Overview
Entre Tomas is a 9-episode audiovisual podcast built around conversations about cinema and the impact films have on audiences. The original concept aimed to move beyond surface-level reactions, encouraging structured discussions about narrative intention, thematic depth, and the creative decisions behind each film. While the dynamic ultimately evolved into a more spontaneous and conversational format, the series developed into a themed, visually immersive experience where each episode featured distinct set design elements and wardrobe choices to match its topic, elevating it beyond a traditional audio podcast.
Challenges & Approach
The project began with a detailed creative bible defining each host’s personality, visual identity, and on-screen presence, with the goal of creating a cohesive and cinematic audiovisual format. Filmed over three intensive production days, the podcast required significant preparation and coordination. Creative direction shifted during execution, and discussions often leaned toward a more informal, friendship-driven tone rather than structured analysis. However, strong emphasis remained on visual production, making the set design, costumes, and atmosphere central to the identity of the show. Two interview episodes further expanded the format, featuring a second assistant director from La sociedad de la nieve and a Disney program director.
The Result
While the original intention was to deepen analytical conversations about cinema, Entre Tomas ultimately fostered a sense of accessibility and community. The natural, conversational tone allowed viewers to feel included in the discussion, creating a familiar and inviting atmosphere. The project stands as an exploration of cinematic production within the podcast format, highlighting a commitment to visual storytelling, aesthetic cohesion, and immersive design.
